Chili Weather
An solid cold snap has come to Florida! The temperature plummeted to 53 degrees this morning. I almost had to suspend the windows!
A day like this is the kind that makes you want to clothed in socks--handknit socks of COURSE--and dash into the pantry to get a nice hot pot of chili going. If I were still in the northeast, I'd say, "Today is a reliable day to make stew." I ought to bake something, too! I'm having the stripe of morning I love: I'm wearing sweatpants, which is something I can only do a couple of times per year here in the Sweaty Brilliance; I had time to listen to an episode of She-Knits this morning; and I've started a new put together of socks, similar to the Laziest Socks Ever, but I think this yarn is so colourful:

I'm still crazy about self-striping sock yarn. Has it lost its solicit for you? I bought this about a year ago from Little Knits (My God what good sales they have!!! hurrygobuysomeyarntheresaidthesubliminalvoiceinyourhead). It's On Parentage Supersocke in one of the City colorways. It's superwash. So far, I have refused to take to one's heels socks out of any yarn that has to be hand-washed. It just doesn't seem utilitarian to me. Knowing me, I'd accidentally throw them in the washer and dryer and felt them to end. Then I'd have to cry, and I don't want to do that. Anyway, this is just a "plain vanilla" sock. No criterion, nothing exciting. Cast on 64 stitches, then turn your planner off till you look down and you're holding a finished sock. Bath and repeat. The fun part is seeing the various color patterns come forth. I have one worry: While winding this ball, I found a knot. Yeah. A Dreaded Bond. You know what that means with self-striping yarn, right? The color line is going to be messed up right there. I'll have to briefly turn my imagination back on at that point, to make sure I can make the correct color striping series continue. Unlike...

When Monkeys Attack!
Tuneful much. Yesterday I was on a mission to ball up all of my skeins of sock yarn & opt for what to frog in order to maximize my sock yarn stash. I ended up with 3 skeins of sock yarn balled & friendly for using to alternately work on a pair of socks on DPNs. I am a bit on edge to try magic loop & such. Think for awhile atleast I’ll be sticking to my 2 sets of US #2 DPNs. =D Mobile on from there. I am seriously thinking of frogging my fingerless gloves & my dublin bay socks(DBS). My fingerless gloves are done in a burgundy-purple Fibranatura Ambrosial sock yarn, and the DBS are done in Dream in Color Smooshy, In Vino Veritas. Just find the DBS to be soporific now after working on the monkey socks. *shrug* Not being mean. I unprejudiced finally took a leap of faith on my skills & was surprised that *gasp* I can as a matter of fact knit lace socks.
So below is a look at my first monkey sock(custody-dyed by Serendipitious Ewe ) , my repaired clapotis (bernat cashmere), my kerchief FO ( KPPPM) & my bawls of sock yarn (yarns leftist to right, dream in color smooshy cool fire, austermann path dune, lornas laces shepherd sock multi tickled pink ).

Hats Off To You!
I seem to be on a hat making frolic. Last week I finished the hat I was working on, but hadn't taken any pictures until a hardly while ago. The edge is suppose to ruffle, but mine didn't. Maybe it's something you have to do yourself though, like pinching the edges of pie crust to get that ruffled looking rim...
This is the Ruffle Hat from Bernat. I got the pattern from the yarn wrapper, but I think you can also get it for free online (like perhaps Ravelry). You can see, on the left side, the seam that has to be sewn. I wasn't paying much publicity when I took the pic I guess, otherwise I wouldn't have had the seam showing.
This cunning litte hat is sized 6-12 months (I think), and is combine on two straight needles, and is easy. I think, however, that I prefer knitting hats on circulars. I reach-me-down 4.0 mm bamboo needles, and the yarn is Bernat Baby
Jaquards in the Berries and Cream colourway. There is way more yarn hand over, and I've started another one of these hats as well. I might also make some little baby booties as well (maybe more than one couple) as I am sure there will still be lots of yarn left over after the second hat is finished.
I tried to resize the essence here after I posted it, but I think it turned out a little lop sided or something. Please disregard the awkwardness if it doesn't look "quite right."
I also make peace a little sock for my friend's baby to try on her yesterday. I finished the sock on Saturday so that when I...
