Using the washable blue marker

I attachment the washable blue marker. If you follow some basic guidelines it will profession a charm everytime. The basic ink is produced in Japan, then packaged through contrary manufacturers. I like Dritz's Mark-B-Gone and Clover's Hose Soluble Marker (Thick) for marking through stencils. For marking grids, I use Clover's thin type or the Water Erasable Fabric Marking Pen.

Some pens draw near with a blue water soluble marker at one end and a white eraser pen at the other. This is supportive when you need to remove a marked line in a small tract. For larger areas, wet a paper towel with COLD shower to lift the markings. You must wait for the fabric to dry before marking again or it will not hang on the mark.

Never apply heat to blue washable markers or the ink can set and may reappear as brown lines. Correct with a light touch; the less ink you have to remove the better. Plan to trace, quilt, and remove the ink as soon as possible for best results.

When quilting and binding is faultless, submerge the quilt in COLD water. I use the bathtub for this conventional so I can see the lines disappear! Either continue to hand wash with a bit of Quilt Soap or Orvus Paste (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) in the tub or use the washing machine. Purge excess water by rolling up in a terry towel or use the reel cycle of the washing machine. Lay the quilt flat to air dry or use the clothes dryer on a low mounting for a few minutes. Finish with air drying.

Lest you think I am a slacker

Since the computer isn't in the sewing reside anymore I am not as good about posting what I am up to in there!

On Saturday I got the borders on my daughter's majesty-size t-shirt quilt and got a back put together. I also got the back made for my Out of the Darkness quilt. I am mailing that off to my squeeze to machine quilt this week some time. The t-shirt quilt I will be machine quilting myself once I have a day that I can commit to getting it basted. That will involve laying it out on the great live floor when no one will be around to step on it!

I got the log cabin lap quilt machine quilted with my philodendron shape on Friday and got the binding on over the weekend so it is a beginning of a stock fuzz of quilts for sale, gifts, etc. This isn't a great picture but it is what I have for now!

After I had the backs done on Saturday I started thriving through my scrap drawers looking for anything I could use for 1 1/2" strips for more log hut blocks. I finished sorting and cutting on Sunday and had totally a pile ready to use. Yesterday morning I woke up with a expect for the next log cabin quilt and got going on 20 blocks. I had too many errands to do yesterday to destroy them so I hope to do that today and then I can post a picture of those first 20 blocks. I will necessity to make more blocks for this project and then I still have lots of strips red for more log cabin options.

I am nearly done with the hand quilting on the SFRR2 quiltlet and once it is done I will undulation it with the two log cabin quilts and then I can get two more swap items in the mail - WooHoo!

Straight Line Machine Quilting

I have several smaller quilts I destitution to machine quilt so I thought I'd share what works for me. First, the feet. I have a backer that has given me several feet for birthday and Christmas gifts. Gigantic gifts from a wonderful friend.
From left to right: 1. Unwrap toe foot. This is great for straight line machine quilting because you get a good believe of where you're going. This is also a great foot for doing blanket stitch. 2. House inch foot with a guide. You get a perfect quarter inch bed. I do not use this when machine quilting. Just sharing. 3. In the Ditch foot (I'm unswerving that is NOT the correct name.) If you're quilting in the ditch the guide in the center follows the layer effortlessly. 4. Quarter inch foot without a conduct. Also just sharing. I love my feet.
When marking my quilts for arrange line quilting I use this hera marker.
You mark your quilt like using a pencil or other marking embellish but instead of leaving a mark you might not be able to get out, it leaves a crease. I dream you can find these at sewing shops or JoAnns.
