I promised to public you news from the Husqvarna Viking SewFest events across the mother country. These are special meetings held for Husqvarna Viking Dealers. This year we introduced two new sewing and embroidery models, the Husqvarna Viking Conspirator Topaz 30 and Designer Topaz 20. The sewing and embroidery machines have many wonderful features. Highlight of the introductions was the new Husqvarna Viking Mega Quilter 18 by 8 covet arm quilting machine with built-in stitch regulator on the new Imperial Quilting Frame with the “knowledge” provided by QBOT. Stippling
I did some stippling on indulge Eric's quilt. The top thread is a multicolor, bottom thread is kingly blue...I'm almost done, had to get more royal blue thread--can't believe I can't find that spool I certain is somewhere here.
I got a new sewing machine last December and finally got a stippling/free movement foot for it. I am still trying to get the hang of it. Not sure I'm so good at it, but I keep disquieting and I hear practice, practice, practice is the key. How I would love a yearn arm quilting machine--but I just can not justify the money. Viking has a machine, called Mega Quilter, with a set up and all, I would love to check out just how many thousands that costs-- for now I will be content with what I have. :)
So, I will get this quilt done expectedly this week and then work on machine quilting the "bug" quilt for Eric's big brother.
Next, I extremity to finish up the " True Lovers Knot ". Like most quilters and/or crafters, never enough space in the day.

QUILT BASTING
This weekend was Quilt Sunday and I had a purpose to get my Queen-sized quilt basted. Of course, I enlisted the expropriate of the workroom’s quilt master, Johanna. How blessed am I to have a quilt master to call upon in times like these?
Basting is the critical step before proceeding to quilting all the layers of a quilt together. Basting a monumental quilt is no easy task and my quilt was even larger than the workroom’s largest invidious table. We positioned the quilt back face up and with the sides edges on the tabular and the ends hanging off. The sides were taped down with masking tape to remain the backing taut. A large piece of cotton batting was laid on top and carefully smoothed out. The quilt top was layered next with the pan up and then we started pinning. Curved basting pins are the most outstanding to use for this and we used a LOT of them. Over 950 curved basting pins placed about every four inches. The edges were thread basted, as a final stair. Basting is important because it keeps the three layers (quilt top, batting, quilt back) from shifting as you do your quilting. I’m planning on conspiringly quilting this mammoth quilt. I’m just going to be doing vertical lines of stitching, evenly spaced. Sounds quiet enough. I have no idea how long that part will take me, but I’ll be reporting on my progress.
I have a join fun projects on the go that are keeping me busy (busier than usual), but I’ll be done them in the near future and of course sharing them with you.
NOTES: I realize that not everyone out there is into quilting, so some of this talk can be confusing. Here are a few summary definitions if you’re trying to follow along:
PATCHWORK or PIECED Exertion: Sewing together pieces of fabric into a larger design.
BASTING: Sewing with wish loose stitches to hold material together. When basting a quilt, this is the become involved hurry up once you have all three layers of your quilt ready to put together. Basting can be done with thread, curved basting pins or a organization of both.
