Light Painting - TWIP

Even if you are not relaxed with the term light painting, you’ve probably already experimented with it. Have you ever swirled your camera around the tick lights on your Christmas tree to create spirals, shapes, or the initials of your name? Have you ever captured the twisting, turning move of sweet glow sticks or a Poi spinner at some crazy full moon fete in Thailand? Then you, my friend, are a light painter!
Light painting is a faithful technique where you physically ‘paint’ scold into your camera frame during a long exposure, either by manipulating a clobber chance source like a flashlight, flash or by moving the camera around a come across source.
During our star shoot at the Aperture Nature Photography Workshop, Scott Stulberg spiked out a beautiful Mormon barn and suggested that we light depict it.
Light paint a barn? Oh yes! The idea seemed crazy to hinge of the group because many of us had little to no experience with light painting, but Scott was decided, so onward we went!
We set up in front of the barn and starting testing unique settings. Because it was impossible to grab focus, I ran up close to the homestead and shone the headlamp on a window. Once Scotty got his focus set, we hardened these settings with his Canon 5D with the 16-35mm f/2.8 lens: 25s unmasking, f/3.2, ISO 1250. We tried for a while but weren’t getting the giddy composition we wanted. It was too dark and the shot was a little standard:
Martin was with us and suggested that we light up the barn using a sharp blast from a car’s headlights. So we moved a car about 200m away from the barn, angling the lights at the barn and the adjacent trees. Timing was a bit sticky, as the headlights could only be on for less than a second or they would blow out the shot like the photo below.

Mike Myers Is Taking Painting Lessons From Damien Loeb

Besides starring in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and collecting royalties from Light of one's life Guru DVD sales, what's Mike Myers been up to lately? Oil painting! On Monday, at a extras for the Only Make Believe charity at the Box, Myers told us he got into his "latest passion" through his flatmate, artist Damien Loeb: "I asked Damien, 'Is this attainable? Like, can I do it?' And he said, 'Yes,' and he's been teaching me how to paint … I sensation like I've made a friend of Damien and in painting that I'll have the rest of my life. It's very inspiring."
According to Loeb, Myers is a natural. "You can’t exceptionally teach anybody," he said. "I gave him the tips of the wiliness, and Mike ended up, in a very irritating fashion, being amazingly expert in painting. By the second painting he attempted, he’d already established that he knew what he was doing and was communicating." The one shred of advice Loeb gave Myers? "Paint what you be informed. Paint what you love." So Myers, who describes his style as "representational," painted his dog, as well as friends and groups of friends. Would he ever clerk the paintings? "Oh my God, no!" said Myers. (Not that anything's selling in this market.)

I took this on the hood of the car, whose beams were adapted to to light paint the pink house. You can see the group backdrop up for the shot. I was the lucky gal that got to turn the lights on and off and on and off, rinse, duplicate. this is why the photo is over exposed, cuz the light was turned on a bunch of times during the 30s disclosing.

‘Blasphemous’ Jesus painting disappears from artist’s home
WILL whoever nicked an anti-war painting of Jesus – strapped to the gun turret of tank while wearing a red nose – please give it back.
The painting, by Gavin Mayhew, sparked a blasphemy row back in 1993. A also clientage outcry prompted its removal from an exhibition Crook Civic Heart, in County Durham.
He took it home when council officials threatened to obliterate his exhibition, and it went with him when he moved from Wolsingham to the upper Weardale village of Westgate.
Another of his paintings, The Big Bang, was also removed from Crook Civic Concentrate in 1996 when council officials realised it contained manly and female sex organs.

According to The Northern Echo, the former art don – who describes his repertoire as “schizophrenic” – had become Euphemistic pre-owned to seeing the familiar canvas hanging in the hall of his well-informed in, Crag Villa, until this summer when it disappeared while he was on a working voyage to Germany.
He can’t understand where it has gone. There has been no sign of a break-in and none of his friends has admitted to intriguing it as a joke.
Said Mayhew:
It is a complete mystery. It had perfectly gone when I got back. It can’t have been a practical joke because I would have been told by now and I’ve asked all my friends and relatives in covering I had forgotten lending it to them.
It was one of my favourite paintings, but people never covenanted it. It was meant to be anti-war, but people thought it was anti-belief and accused me of blasphemy.
I have always been fond of it and got used to it hanging in the front march. The only explanation I can come up with is that some religious person somehow knocked on the door and was offended by it.
The painting still appears for trading on the Artflock website for £1,500.00
