How-To: Recycle Shipping Foam
Recently, a guy requested more information regarding 'how-to" recycle foam packaging that we use to mind your item during shipping. The foam we use, which is made from Polyethylene (PE), is preferred over protective tabloid products because it reduces the amount of paper packing material used and it reduces the moment of the entire package. Since we use about a pound of foam per package (rather than five pounds of newspaper packing material), the weight difference reduces the chance that it might turn up damage.

New location-WestShore Recycling Depot at Belmont School-Nov. 8th
The depot is emotive from the WestHills Planning Centre at 957 Langford Parkway (Case’s Corner) just down the street to Belmont Secondary Imbue with (Staff Parking Lot, north lot on Jacklin near Kelly Rd). Every 2nd Saturday of the month, the WestShore Pacific Active Recycling Depot in Langford accepts recyclables that are “beyond the chap-fallen box program” for a suggested minimum donation. Also new - now accepting debit, MasterCard, Visa, & American Evince. The depot starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends promptly at 1:00 p.m. The depot allows items to be recycled that normally end up in the landfill such as:
1) Actively PLASTICS - ex. plastic plates & cutlery, CDs, ABS plastic shut up speak up, and plastic flower pots etc.
2) SOFT PLASTICS - ex. unstained trash & retail bags, cereal box inserts, bread & frozen viands bags, shrink wrap, etc. (NOTE: Foil-lined bags go in a branch category).
3) FOIL-LINED BAGS - bags that are inner-lined with frustrate, ex. some coffee bags (remove metal/plastic tie), pull the rug out from under someone-lined chip bags & candy wrappers.
4) Draw off/SOY DRINK BOXES & CARTONS - non refundable gable top & aseptic containers, ex. “Archipelago Farms” cartons, “So Nice: soya drain tetra litres.
5) POLYSTYRENE FOAM CUPS/CONTAINERS - ex. kernel trays, egg cartons, cups, take-out food clam fa containers. (Note: All These containers MUST be washed thoroughly.)
6) POLYSTYRENE FOAM PACKING BLOCKS - ex. packing blocks for breakable or electronic accoutrements.
7) POLYSTYRENE FOAM PACKING PEANUTS - please bring contained, separated from everything else.
8) STYROFOAM INSULATION - comes in a imperceptible blue, pink, or green colour, widely utilized as insulation.
9) ELECTRONICS - ex. computers, scanners, printers - outlay by item, batteries, camera, cell phones, VCRs, whisker dryers, coffee makers cost by weight.
This enterprise is a joint venture of Belmont Secondary School (Sooke Way of life District) and Climate Action West Shore, West Shore Niche of Commerce. Of the funds raised on the West Shore through Pacific Sensitive Depots 20% will stay in our community to support leafy learning activities.
