This yo-yo quilt is the first quilt I ever made. It took about 5 years to compel, as I mostly made the circles in my spare time or while travelling on business.

I knew nothing about quilting at the duration and was terrified of the sewing machine. I didn't know anything about the 100% cotton find, so you'll find LOTS of different fabrics in this quilt; polyester broadcloth, chintz, upholstery fabric, drapery fabric, men's shirts, and discarded next of kin clothes! You'll also find more than 98 different fabrics represented "Why 98?" you ask. Well, at the continuously, I read somewhere, in order for a quilt to be classified as "scrappy" it had to have no less than 98 distinct fabrics. You know what else? I can tell you the story behind each and every one of the fabrics in this quilt, such as, who gave it to me, whose garment it came from, and for those I purchased; from what cooperative store.

I suppose you can say the pattern is mind. I essentially made the log cabin screen from yo yos as opposed to strips of fabric.

There are 3,920 yo yos in this fella and I securely together stitched the top to a new, black, sheet.



Did you know? The jury is still out as to whether yo yo designs are in actuality "quilts". The reason being, yo yo quilts are not constructed in the sandwich look, ie top, batting and backing fabric.
